WHAT IS A CSA ?

CSA - stands for Community Supported Agriculture.  A CSA  is a way for you to have a "share" of a farm's  harvest.

CSA - HERE'S HOW IT WORKS -

Each week you will be able to come to the farm and pick up a box (provided by Lewis Farm) of produce and herbs which are available that week.   For example:  In May we would have broccoli, cauliflower, lettuces, radishes, basil, parsley, etc.  You will also have a chance to pick a bouquet of cut flowers when available.  This way, you have the freshest vegetables and herbs available to you on a weekly basis.  We currently have seven greenhouses so we are able to have many items ready before the regular season begins.

As June begins the variety of vegetables increases.   Tomatoes, cucumbers, summer squash, bunching onions, green and red peppers, lettuces and eggplant start to come "into season."  Corn arrives in late July, early August.  In the fall you can expect to have squashes, potatoes, leeks and apples added to your boxes.

If you travel on the weekends during the summer months the CSA option allows you to still enjoy farm fresh produce as pick-up days are during the week (Tuesday or Thursday).

NUMBER OF MEMBERS ALLOWED -

We are restricting the membership to 50 FULL SHARES and 100 HALF-SHARES.  The first 50 people will have their choice of pick-up day (Tuesday or Thursday).   If the day you desire is available we will let you know when you sign up.

PICK - UP DAYS

We will have TWO pick-up days - TUESDAY OR THURSDAY between the hours of   11:00 am - 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm.   Please arrange to pick up your items on your assigned day or, if you cannot pick it up, call the farm to let us know who will be picking up your items.

LENGTH OF SEASON

Our greenhouses allow us to begin the crops earlier (May) and extend the season thru October.

OTHER ITEMS AVAILABLE -

Occasionally we will be offering vegetables and fruits from other local area farms.  An example of this would be apples (which we do not have available at the farm) and raspberries brought in from Harry's sister's farm.

RECIPES -

We will also include some recipes to share that include some of the items you are picking up
